Sourced directly from Kirkby in Furness quarry in Cumbria’s southern Lake District, our blue slate chippings make the perfect choice for gardens and driveways.
Practical and beautiful with a pale blue/grey appearance and occasional natural brown flecks, this breathtaking slate emanates from the Silurian period and is over 450 million years old. When wet, it provides a mid to dark blue look.
Our slate chippings are renowned for their strength, durability and colour fastness. Due to the process in which these 40mm decorative chippings are sourced, the flat surface makes for ideal driveway application.
Compared to other slates, the thicker depth of the 40mm type makes it able to withstand breaking under heavy use. They are also suitable for planting borders and alpine and rockery gardens as well as ponds and water features due to being fish-friendly.
However, we recommend our 20mm decorative aggregates for use on paths and walkways due to their smaller and flatter surface that is easier to walk on.
In a rare plum colour, these Welsh plum slate chippings are practical, versatile and low maintenance. Fine-grained and durable, the colour brightens when wet and makes for a beautiful garden feature.
Perfect for use in gardens, pathways, drives and parking spaces because the shape of the 40mm decorative chippings allows the slate to bed down in use to make for a more comfortable walking surface.
The geological composition of our Welsh plum slate aggregates means they are unlikely to change the PH levels of ponds or soil, however we do recommend washing the stone before use in ponds or water features.
Our highly versatile light grey limestone chippings offer low maintenance to save you time compared to other garden landscaping products. They are also ideal for weed prevention and will help maintain the moisture in your soil during long hot summer spells.
With a slight hue of cream to their colour, these limestone decorative chippings darken slightly when wet and are ideal for garden paths, driveways and parking spaces, planting borders, rockeries and general ground cover.
Dove grey chippings can also be used as a construction aggregate for pipe bedding, surrounds and making ready mix concrete. We recommend that limestone aggregate is not used in ponds, as it is not fish-friendly and is washed before use
This limestone has a lower carbon footprint than most other decorative aggregates sold as we deliver direct from the quarry.
