This stunning slate emanates from the Silurian period and is over 450 million years old. It is renowned for its strength, durability, and colour fastness and has a mid-to-dark blue appearance when wet and a pale blue-grey appearance when dry. You may also be able to identify some occasional natural brown flecks if you look closely.
