Is your garden ready for spring? It won’t be long before the next season is upon us and your garden might be due a spring clean, or even an upgrade. With that in mind, we know all the best ways to spruce up your outdoor space for what’s coming next.
Spring is the best time to tidy up the lawn, clear the weeds and clean the patio, or replace it entirely with high quality natural stone from Stone & Surfaces Direct.
Let’s take a look at the ways you can spring clean your garden and get it back in shape for the upcoming season!
Clean or replace the patio
From time to time, especially over the winter months, a natural stone patio will accumulate unsightly moss due to dirt and debris landing on the surfaces and not being cleaned regularly.
In time for the spring season, it’s a good idea to clean your patio. Once you have tackled the moss, take a bucket of soapy warm water and a cloth to clean the surface of your patio slabs to remove dirt. Alternatively, get a stiff bristle broom and get scrubbing!
If your patio tiles are past their best and in need of replacement, why not consider some new paving from Stone & Surfaces Direct? We have a wide range of natural stone paving and porcelain paving to choose from, all offering amazing benefits for your outdoor area.
Revive the lawn
Next, it’s time to turn your attention to your lawn. Over winter you might have noticed brown patches occurring but spring is a great time to sow grass seeds on any bare patches.
Once you have patiently waited for the grass to grow back, ensure you regularly mow the new lawn because this will encourage growth. Fertiliser is also effective to revive your lawn and return it to a glorious green colour.
Tackle the weeds
Part of your spring clean will include generally tidying up. Removing twigs, raking dead leaves and pulling up any dead plants or flowers from last season to help your garden look instantly more tidy.
After that, it’s time to tackle the weeds. If removing weeds by hand, make sure the soil is damp and moist before you begin because this will make it much easier to remove the plant from its root. This is crucial if you don’t want weeds to reappear.
Use a garden hoe to loosen the soil around the weed because this will also make it easier to remove.
Tidy the shrubs
To encourage growth and flowering, we recommend pruning your flowers, shrubs and trees. Not only this, it will help your garden look neater and more tidy.
